Membership Registration

Member grade membership is appropriate for individuals who hold a fire related degree or equivalent and have been working within the fire sector for at least ten (10) years. This makes Member grade ideal for those who have gained extensive experience and now want the professional recognition to go with it. The membership grade is awarded to those who have demonstrated significant individual responsibility and exceptional contribution to the Fire Service & Fire Engineering profession over an extended period, not normally less than 10 years. Member of the IFE also benefit from esteemed professional recognition in the national fire sector using the post nominal MIFEN. Requirement • At least 10 years of working experience in a fire-related role or 15 years if applying via technical report route (Fire Protection Technician Route) • Please note that the originality of your application may be subject to further scrutiny. • All applicants for Member Level must have been an Associate (AIFEN) of the IFE for a minimum of three continuous years or a Graduate (GIFEN) for at least 5 years. • Two completed Reference Statements from current FIFEN or MIFEN members or a Fire Service Chief/Director. • A detailed curriculum vitae and biography – please also ensure that information is included on recent contribution to the IFEN in the last five years. • At least 3 years of sufficient and relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD), applicants are required to submit a CPD Log with their application. • A Personal Statement not more than 1000 words using the below headings as a guide: o Why you feel you should be approved as a Member of the IFE, Nigeria o What you have contributed to the profession of fire engineering and/or IFE Nigeria during your time as an Associate or Graduate. Include details of any volunteer work you carry out for any Fire Services or Fire Protection Organization. o What you will contribute to the IFEN during your time as a Member of the Institution. o A copy of a current organization chart which shows where you are placed within your organization.
